Unexpected Gifts

In early spring, I had admired the camellia forest at the State Capitol Park in Sacramento. While there I saw a sign pointing towards a Rose Garden, but we were pressed for time. I vowed to come back and explore at a later date. In June, I was in Sacramento for a conference.

Ranunculus is in a large genus of 1700 or more plants. It is distributed throughout Europe, North and South America. They are mostly perennial but can also be annuals or biennials. Members of the genus are known as buttercups, spearworts and water crowfoots.
