Looking to the Future: Plant Choice for a Changing Climate

Harvest Day speaker Rose Loveall

Rose Loveall-Sale is the owner of Morningsun Herb Farm, a family-owned nursery specializing in culinary, medicinal and specialty herbs. She has spent the last 30 years growing more than 700 varieties of herbs and perennials, starting the nursery as a weekend venture and expanding it to a plant lover’s destination, as well as a mail order nursery. Rose is originally a forester by education (University of California, Berkeley), but discovered that herbs were her favorite plants to grow and enjoy. An M.S. in Environmental Horticulture from the University of California at Davis rounded out her education and piqued her interest in owning and operating her own nursery. When Rose isn’t in the greenhouses or out in the demonstration gardens, she is teaching classes and giving talks on the many aspects of gardening with herbs throughout northern California.

Harvest Day speaker Karey W-R

Karey Windbiel-Rojas is the Associate Director for Urban and Community IPM and Area Urban IPM Advisor with the University of California Statewide Integrated Pest Management Program (UC IPM). In her role as Associate Director, Karey provides leadership and coordinates communication and collaboration to address pest issues around homes, structures, landscapes, gardens, schools, and public areas and works with various audiences who live in or serve these areas. She also oversees UC IPM’s statewide urban educational materials, including the UC IPM website, publications, and training resources. As a cooperative extension advisor/agent, she conducts research and outreach on arthropod and weed pests for three counties in the Sacramento area.
