Curious about adding California native plants to your garden but not sure where to start?
This hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop will walk you through the why, when, and how of going native. We'll explore the many benefits of native plants—from supporting pollinators to conserving water—and share tips on how to get started with easy-to-grow species that thrive in local conditions.
You'll learn:
- Why native plants are a smart choice for sustainable gardening
- The best times to plant (hint: fall is your friend!)
- Which starter plants are reliable and rewarding
- What to expect during seasonal changes—including that dormancy phase
Participants will get to see and touch plant samples, ask questions, and leave with resources to help them begin their native plant journey confidently.
