The University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) 4-H Program is offering a free, virtual, after-school club for youth ages 9-12. The club Sustainable You! will focus on sustainability issues, including land, water, energy, food, and air.

There have been recent reports of a beetle infesting downed avocado fruit in Ventura County. This scolytid weevil was first reported in San Diego in 2010. Gary Bender found it in a high density planting where fruit was lying on the ground.

Avocados are a semi subtropical tree that can be found in high elevations of cloud forests in Mexico and Central America. A delicious and highly nutritious fruit, the cultivation of avocado has spread around the world.

The Sustainable You! Summer Camp is an annual camp that is put on by the Ventura County 4-H Program and the City of Ventura each year in July. Usually, it is held at the University of California Hansen Agriculture Research and Extension Center (UC HAREC) in Santa Paula.
