Irrigation and Water Management

Program Overview

The mission of the UCCE Irrigation and Water Management Program is to enhance water and nutrient use efficiency and productivity in Southern California. The program conducts applied research and produces educational materials on best practices in irrigation, on-farm water management, and water conservation specific to the region. Its primary goal is to assist growers and stakeholders with the adoption of new and emerging irrigation technologies and user-friendly tools, reduce soil salinization, and improve water quality.

About Irrigation and Water Management Advisor (Ali Montazar)

Dr. Ali Montazar has a PhD in Irrigation and Drainage and currently is the Irrigation and Water Management Advisor for Imperial, Riverside, and San Diego Counties. He has more than 20 years of research, extension, and teaching experience and has served in several leadership positions in agricultural water management and irrigation engineering in California and abroad. Ali has a well-developed applied research and training program in southern California and currently has several ongoing irrigation and water conservation studies. His focus is sensor-based irrigation management, water conservation, drainage and salinity management, and best irrigation and nutrient management practices.
