Overview
California is the leading state in cantaloupe and honeydew production. In addition, California ranks among the top few states for watermelon production. Fresno County, located in the San Joaquin Valley, is a prominent contributor to California melon production because its climate and soil make it an ideal environment for melon development. The UCCE vegetable crops program works to address critical issues and increase efficiency and sustainability in production of melons.
