A 4-H Record Book is a standard record of your activities in 4-H - your projects, activities, events, skills development and learning experiences. The 4-H Record Book helps you improve your skills in record keeping, goal management, and reflection on your achievements and growth in 4-H. You can submit your record book for evaluation at the club, county, and state levels.
The Record Book and Achievement Programs are optional and separate programs. We highly recommend you take advantage of both programs to maximize your growth and learning in 4-H.
Record Book covers can be purchased at the Kings UCCE Office or online from Leslie Carman 4-H Supplies.

Record Book Awards
The Record Book competition recognizes 4-H members who have demonstrated a well-rounded 4-H experience through the completion of a record book. Record book awards are available at the club, county, and state level. Record books that earn a gold seal at the club level, are then judged at the county level. Those who receive a gold seal at county are awarded a Record Book Medal at the annual Achievement Night Award Ceremony. The California 4-H State Record Book competition is open to senior 4-H members - more information on the state level competition can be found here.
Kings County 4-H Awards
The Kings County 4-H program offers a few awards that are unique to our county:
- Project Medals - Project Medals can be earned by completing an Annual Project Report, attending at least 80% of the project meetings, sharing learning experiences with other 4-H members or community audiences relating to their project, demonstrating specific project knowledge on an expression page, and showing community service or leadership within the project. A full record book is not required for a project medal and members may only apply for a medal in one project per year. Project Medals are awarded to all members who meet the criteria and are presented at the annual Achievement Night Award Ceremony.
